1985 Ciocc
Anthony Nguyen is the
proud owner of this restored classic Ciocc. Anthony contacted me
last year for help with polishing some Ciocc pantographed parts, and
that led to a very enjoyable collaboration which has finally produced
the bike below.
While I was polishing the
parts, Anthony sent the frame and fork to Giovanni Pelizzoli in Italy
- the original "Ciocc" and builder of this frameset. Pelizzoli
did a beautiful restoration; he rechromed the rear triangle and fork,
added chrome to the head lugs, and finished with a perfectly applied
coat of burgundy paint. Pelizzoli was very accomodating and used
some of the decals Anthony sourced from Screen Specialties in order to give
Anthony just the look he wanted. And to top it all off,
Pelizzoli
finished the work in very good time, approximately 5 months, including
transport time. Bravo!
Once the frame was back in
Anthony's hands, I helped him find a few missing parts, and then I put
it all together. I really enjoyed building this bike. It's
not everyday that I have the chance to do one of these perfect bikes,
and working with Anthony was a real pleasure. Thanks Tony!
And of course, at the very
end, I did a well deserved photo shoot.
Enjoy.

Here is a great photo of Giovanni
Pelizzoli personally inspecting Anthony's frame as it arrived in
Italy.

And below are three "before" photos of the
bike and frame.
